Roberta and her lovely dog Ziggy made us feel at home again. We’ve stayed at her place twice now, and each visit has been just as welcoming. It’s a real gem, close to lots of the characteristic villages in this part of Tuscany. Breakfast was just right, and both the rooms and linens were spotless. I’ll stay here again next time I’m nearby.

I stayed here for work, and I want to be clear that I don’t have any ulterior motive, competitive or otherwise. In my view, the person managing the place doesn’t understand cleanliness or hospitality. I asked for plant-based milk and was kindly given some, but the cereal I requested had live insects in it. At first I let it go and simply mentioned it to the manager without making a fuss. When I was leaving, the manager said I hadn’t behaved properly because I’d used both beds in my room, apparently suspecting I’d let someone else stay there. I did use both beds, but I was the only person sleeping in the room. I hadn’t realized this would be such a problem at a hospitality property. It does make me wonder whether the linens are changed as they should be. Is laundry really worth more than giving the next guest a clean room? Cleanliness should be the top priority, especially these days. The manager also called my behavior impolite and said, “you young people need to understand that not everything is owed to you.” (?) Maybe it was an outburst caused by poor management, which I can understand to a point, though not entirely. It was a terrible experience in several ways.
