The poolside terrace was a favorite spot for a drink, with sunset over Pomerance, Volterra’s lights, and the Apennines in view. Guests also have a roughly 16-meter communal pool, plenty of quality loungers and parasols, lawns for football and volleyball or badminton, a barbecue area with a large table, and another small garden terrace. We came as a family with children and had a wonderful holiday, with plenty of chances to spend lazy days by the pool between trips around Tuscany. Palazzo di Corneto is about 3 km outside Pomerance on a small hill. Paolo and Donatella are warm and genuine hosts. Over five years they lovingly turned this 17th-century property into five holiday apartments. Paolo will gladly show you photos of the restoration if you ask. He only speaks Italian, but he's communicative and enjoys a challenge. Across two floors, the apartments range from about 60 to 130 square meters. Some have an open gallery. In our Apartment Sud, it had three extra beds and a bathroom, alongside two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The apartments are fully equipped, including a dishwasher, hairdryer, ironing board, and fans. They also provide things like spices, toilet paper, and dishwasher tablets. We even got a bottle of wine when we arrived. Paolo grows olives and makes excellent olive oil. Pomerance is close by and, despite being a lively tourist town, its Italians are very laid-back. In Italy's tourist centers, the charm can feel rehearsed or irritated, while Pomerance has genuine warmth, or at least an openness that feels genuine. The Tuscan countryside is hilly, and the roads are steep, busy, sometimes narrow, and winding. You'll practically need a car, but getting out to places takes time. Running and cycling are rather difficult here. Tuscany gave us plenty of places to visit, while Palazzo di Corneto was a great base. Paolo and Donatella, thank you for your hospitality!
