Fattoria Di Statiano

We stayed here in summer 2023 with our three young kids, and it had everything our family of five needed. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the kitchen was big, and we could eat outside. There’s also a huge, secure garden and a well-kept pool. It was peaceful and a little tucked away in the Tuscan countryside, while still being close enough for the trips we wanted to make to Volterra, Siena, and other places. Tina was a lovely host, always smiling and quick to help. She even thought ahead about what we might need.

Tina makes you feel like a friend as soon as you arrive at Agriturismo Fattoria di Statiano. She’s warm and generous about sharing the local stories, community, and agriculture that shape the region. Everyone at Statiano helped make our visit incredible. If you’re drawn to food, wine, history, and getting to know a place in an authentic way, this is a great place to stay. It’s the first spot I’d tell anyone heading to Tuscany to visit.

I’ve stayed at Statiano twice, and the apartments have been clean and tidy both times. There’s a pool for guests, and the breakfasts and dinners are excellent if you choose to eat there. The wine deserves a mention too: they have a lovely vineyard and make very good wine. Bring a bottle or two, or five, home to enjoy while thinking about another trip. The owners are always ready to answer questions and suggest places to see nearby, and there’s plenty to enjoy. The views and scenery around Statiano are stunning. Tina is especially lovely and friendly, and does her best to make your stay more enjoyable. It works well whether you’re travelling alone or with family, since there’s something for everyone. I already know where I’ll stay next time I’m in Italy: Statiano.

I first started coming to Statiano as a teenager, in 2013, 2014, and 2015, then returned on my own in 2017, 2018, and 2019. It kept impressing me every time. Tina and Paolo are wonderful hosts and friends, always willing to help, and it’s fun spending time with them. The food is delicious, the beds are soft, and the big stone-walled rooms stay comfortable even in the summer heat. And there’s the wine and the cats, too. You really have to see it yourself. Statiano is also a lovely base for Italian food, nearby cities, and, most of all, getting to know the Italians. Cecina and its seaside are about 30 minutes away, as are the historic Etruscan towns San Giminiano and Volterra. Pisa, Livorno, and Lucca take around an hour. You can also take a train to Rome or Florence; it takes longer, about three hours, but the trains are comfortable and the trip is worth it.
