Abalon Pompei Resort

The room stayed at 25* C, and no matter what we tried, we couldn’t cool it down. We ended up sleeping with the doors and windows open, which was rough beside a loud nightclub and all the street traffic. Otherwise, it was a clean enough place to sleep after a day out exploring the area. Parking was decent, while breakfast was below average. It’s fine for a basic stay, but don’t expect a resort. The hotel could use a proper update.

It was easy to find free parking, and the room was clean, with comfortable beds and a tidy bathroom. We’d booked two rooms and asked for them close together. They arranged that, and I really appreciated it.

The only thing I liked was the coffee, and even that was inconsistent. Breakfast was otherwise inedible. The beds were hard, the pillows felt like bricks, and the shower was barely usable. It had a lot of fancy settings, but none worked, and the stall was about two square feet. One person in our group had a shower that didn’t work at all. They refused to move them, saying they hadn’t been told on the first night. Pathetic. The place felt run-down and nasty. Some rooms use cards, others old keys. If you get a key, you can’t control the AC yourself. You have to go downstairs and ask for it to be switched on, since there’s no phone to call reception. Only one person was working at the desk, and they spoke almost no English. The positive reviews must be old or maybe those guests got lucky. It’s not worth the risk, book somewhere else.

The room itself was spacious and very clean, with no complaints from me. The railway station is about 1 km away. Breakfast was limited, just a few breads, sweet pastries, and some fruit juice.
