Hotel Solemar Terme beach & Beauty

The location is great, but I regretted staying here. The place claims to be luxurious, yet I didn't see that at all. The rooms were run down and the spa wasn't well maintained. The overnight staff member who checked us in acted as if he'd rather we stayed somewhere else. We had to pay extra for beach towels, robes, and beach chairs. This hotel needs a makeover.

The room was so shabby that another guest was given our key and walked in while my wife was showering, thinking it was his room. This place feels like a cheap motel, hasn't been updated in what must be 35 years, and isn't worth the price. I can't believe the five-star reviews. Stay somewhere else and save yourself the headache.

The terrace view was spectacular, the staff were kind and helpful, the breakfast was good, and the linen was nice, although the pillows were hard. Those are the reasons I gave this place three stars. I rented the penthouse apartment in September 2023, and it wasn't as described on Booking.com. It felt dated, tired, and run down, especially for the price. There was no iron, tea towel, or hair dryer. The wet tiles were very slippery, the master bedroom blinds were broken, and even with the blinds down the lighthouse still shone through. Water pressure was miserable, a tap was broken, and the shower ran out of hot water after two minutes. The thermal pool tiles had green mold and seemed very unsanitary.

We were a group of ten, three families, and found the location very good. The staff were lovely and attentive. I'd recommend the hotel to family and friends. Ischia itself is a hidden gem, with welcoming locals and an authentic Italian feel.
