I’d recommend booking this B&B if you want a great vacation on Ponza. The house is new, and it was once home to Paul Thek, a famous American painter. Enzo can tell you stories about him. The hosts, Enzo, his wife, and their daughters, were wonderful. Everything was very clean, and the view felt heavenly, just like the location’s setting in beautiful Ponza. The port for ferries and excursions, bars, and the main street are all close by, about a 10-minute walk or less. Breakfast was superb, with cappuccino, juice, croissants, delicious Nutella crepes, and focaccia with cooked ham.

We stayed in the “Lavender” room from August 18th to 25th, 2024, and the sunsets were unforgettable. Mornings started with a generous breakfast, prepared perfectly by Mariagrazia, Enzo, and their daughters, who were always glad to help with our requests. We’ll remember the lovely conversations with Enzo and the detailed stories he shared about Ponza’s history. We also have to mention gentle giant Marte, the wonderful Great Dane, and the two lovely cats.

Our room didn’t have air conditioning, but with Ponza’s wind we never missed it. Breakfast was delicious, with quality pastries, yogurt, milk, tea, and coffee. We could eat on the small indoor terrace or ask to have it on the terrace outside our room, overlooking the spectacular harbor. The B&B sits up several steps above the harbor and has a lovely view. If you’re bringing heavy bags, it’s worth calling the very kind owners. They may pick you up by car, or at least explain the easiest way up without carrying everything on the stairs. We’ll definitely return to this charming place.

Casa Carmela was an excellent B&B, even for the price. I’d only allowed myself two days in Ponza, and it felt far too short. There’s so much to see, with beaches and nearby islands that change the experience every day. One day isn’t enough, and I’d suggest staying at least 3 or 4 days. I’ll come back to Ponza and to Casa Carmela. The apartment had gorgeous views across the whole harbor, and the owner was very kind and always available. The uphill streets and steps are part of Ponza, so pack light and the walk gets easier. The location is ideal, just above the harbor shops and restaurants, and Chiaia di Luna is a five-minute walk away, with sunset views from the terrace.
