The view over the port is lovely, and at first the headwaiter seemed friendly and very service-minded, with excellent English. He strongly suggested we order the fish of the day for the five of us to share. They showed us the fish, said it weighed 1.8 kg, and quoted EUR 118 for the whole thing. When the bill arrived, it was EUR 180 and the fish was listed as 2 kg. The headwaiter's English suddenly seemed much worse. We challenged the price increase, which was over 50%, but didn't refuse to pay. Our complaint got little response. After talking with the owner, the headwaiter took EUR 20 off and said there had been a language misunderstanding. But until the bill came, communication had been clear. We came away feeling they may be dishonest with foreign tourists. Be warned.

You can hear the waves from the rooms, and the view out to sea is priceless. It’s a charming place that really feels connected to Ponza’s traditions.

The staff were genuinely friendly, and the place itself felt magical during my five nights in the sea-view suite. Breakfast let it down: for a four-star hotel I expected more choice and better quality than pre-packaged items. The room had a bathtub but no shower.
