Agriturismo Il Casolare

You’ll want a car to get here, since it’s quite a distance from the train station, though the location itself is very good. We visited in summer when the heat was beating on the windows, and Eros brought us a big fan to make things more comfortable. He welcomed us like guests in his own home, a lovely estate surrounded by vineyards and projects he’s working on. Ask him if you need anything; he’s happy to help.

The room was clean and stayed cool, and the garden was lovely, with a pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast was simple but tasty, with homemade cake, cookies, or pastries. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the setting was beautiful.

The garden has a pool and hot tub, perfect for relaxing, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely furnished. Casolare is a beautiful historic building, run by a polite, helpful guy who greeted us so kindly. Eros made us a delicious jam tart, too. The nearby train station never bothered us. It actually brought to mind the characters in "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Train Stop"!

The last time we visited the charming village of Poppi was twenty years ago. Coming back with our three children, who are different ages, we found Agriturismo Il Casentino felt like home. It has the atmosphere of a historic residence while still offering all the comforts our family of five needed. Eros was consistently warm and kind. We loved taking it easy in the big garden, by the pool and in the hot tub. We’ll be back.
