We booked through Booking.com, but what we found was nothing like the listing, and the experience was disgusting. The apartment was filthy, so we had to clean it ourselves before we could even put our things down. We asked for cleaning and hoped that would help. There was a horrible smell from the old furniture, and we couldn’t sleep with the doors shut. We’d reserved a mountain-view room, then discovered they call every room without a lake view “mountain view.” The apartment was awful. Never again.

We paid for a corner apartment for ten days, which mattered because we were travelling with two dogs and needed the space. Instead, we were given a much smaller unit in the middle of a building, nothing like the Booking.com description or photos. When we complained, the property manager sent us to Happy Rentals, which handles Booking reservations. Happy Rentals sent us straight back. Neither would take responsibility, so we contacted Booking. Then Happy Rentals suddenly mentioned “categories of units” that weren’t on the listing, and the description and photos were changed. The property manager became impossible to reach. We left and booked another apartment at Como Lake, where we could finally enjoy our holiday. We did get a full refund. Afterward, the property and Happy Rentals claimed we had complained about the view, because trees blocked part of the lake, instead of the unit. That felt incredibly low. Stay away. There are plenty of other nice places in this beautiful area.
I’ve stayed at Porto Letizia regularly for work over the last two years. It gets a bit crowded in tourist season, but it’s a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.
The lakefront location is fantastic, and the apartment is comfortable enough. We were charged for extra toilet paper despite staying only a couple of days as a group of six. Still, I’d recommend the place overall.
We came on holiday with children expecting a pool and working air conditioning, since the listing said the rooms had air conditioning. It didn’t work, which was miserable with small kids in 30-degree heat. The pool looked nice in the website photo, but it was green and closed. The whole place seemed run-down.
