Even during that hectic week in August, the house itself was so quiet that I could hear the waves. The area around Porto Cesareo was chaotic, but the home is a clear step above the usual apartments nearby. I especially recommend it for families with young children. There is plenty of outdoor space, including a lovely patio for eating or just relaxing. The location is central, on the beach along the Porto Cesareo lagoon, with a nice promenade straight to the town center. The area is peaceful, there's indoor parking, and the house is clean, well furnished, and has everything you need. The owners were impeccable. There are a few drawbacks. The beach in front is quiet, but the water isn't very good: it feels more like a lagoon, with muddy sand and shallow, murky water. It doesn't feel like the sea of Salento, though just a couple of kilometers away the water is Caribbean-like. The second bedroom is very narrow and has no wardrobe or storage. There's only one air conditioner, in the hallway. It cools the house enough, but at night the bedroom doors need to stay open to keep the heat down. The price feels a little high for what you get. If the sea had been decent, it would have seemed fair, since staying in a villa right on the sea usually brings more convenience.
