B&b regina del porto

We stayed for a week, and it was a positive experience. Mrs. Rosanna was friendly and helpful. The building looks quite dated from outside, but inside our room was welcoming, clean, and thoughtfully arranged. The renovated bathroom was spacious too, with a lovely large shower. Breakfast came to the room and we ate it on the terrace overlooking the sea and port. The quality and amount could be better, with fresh croissants, something savory, and better coffee. The central location was very convenient for getting around on foot. The three flights of stairs weren't much of an issue for us 😅

What a terrifying stay! A horrible sewer smell hit us as soon as we got out of the car. The B&B was on the third floor of an old, dirty building with no elevator, and the entrance hall was cramped and dark. The room was ugly, and the sheets weren't very clean. The towels were dirty and gray; we asked for more and got them, but still couldn't use them. Luckily, we'd brought our own. The toothbrush holder was also filthy and unusable. The shower was spacious, but its drain worked poorly and the water went down very slowly. Instead of disposable body wash, there were only used supermarket bottles of shampoo, shower gel, and intimate wash.

For the €90 we paid, the rooms and location were average. The towels were clean but old and yellowed, and the bed linen was old too. Breakfast was very meager compared with other B&Bs nearby, just a drink and either a croissant or an egg.

The owner was discreet, kind, and always there when we needed something. She also pointed us to a restaurant where we ate better than anywhere else on our many trips around Sicily. We only stayed one night, but the B&B is close to the center and has free parking, which is a real bonus when parking elsewhere in Sicily can cost quite a bit. Breakfast came right to our room, and the owner helped with a special request: I travel with medication that needs refrigeration, and I needed to recharge my ice packs. The room and bathroom were spotless, modern, and comfortable. The only drawback is that the B&B is on the top floor of a 1970s building with no elevator. We’d happily recommend it.
