Sapore di Mare

The house Chardonnay is fine, and the helpful, friendly waitstaff spoke enough English to get by. This seafood restaurant is clean, and the food is terrific. Portions are good sized, with fair prices and careful preparation and presentation. It's a favorite with local people, and everyone seemed pleased with their meals.

The service was the main problem. We waited 20 minutes before the waiter asked for our order, and when we were asking him questions, he turned away to speak with other guests, leaving us for long stretches. He may have meant to be friendly, but his replies didn't feel professional. Our starter took over an hour to arrive. The restaurant was busy, but it should be ready to serve people on time even at full capacity. Once we complained about the delays, the rest of the dishes suddenly came out within minutes. The food was more than acceptable, though. Most dishes were very good, the fish was fresh, and you could taste it in the raw shrimp starter. The black spaghetti with cuttlefish ink was tasty, and I'd recommend it. The seafood salad wasn't good. The interiors are beautiful, and the restaurant is very close to the sea. I might come back, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

The hosts were so welcoming and steered us toward the raw starter, which was a great tip. The fish was fresh, and this was the best-value meal we had in Sicily. I’d definitely go back.

The family-friendly welcome was lovely, and the accommodation was excellent. There’s a beautiful beach nearby, plus a lovely walk to Scala dei Turchi.
