We stayed at Hotel Enzo Porto Recanati for a week, and although the service was generally good, the hotel was clean and the staff very helpful, we had a difficult time sleeping on Friday and Saturday nights. Deafening music and rowdy shouts carried in from the main street until around 3am or 4am. The music from nearby dining bars and restaurants stopped around 2am, but the shouting and screaming continued past 3am or later. We could also hear loud talking and choking sounds, and cigarette smoke drifted up to our second-level rooms. It made sleep impossible and was extremely stressful. Angela and Sylvia were especially caring and helpful. Angela went out of her way to give us information and check on us, always with a smile. We saw her patience tested by a challenging walk-in customer, and she handled it with saintly care. Please pass our regards to the breakfast team too, Flavio, Antonio and Matteo, and God bless Angela, Sylvia and the rest of the team. We had hoped to leave a completely positive review, but this is an honest account of our stay.

I’ve travelled for 25 years, and this was the first time a receptionist called to say, literally, “You need to free the room.” At checkout I got the call at 11:15 on 9-Jan. I was already packed, but the way it was put felt really impolite. I think a better approach would have been to ask, “Sir, do you need additional time?” I hadn’t checked the checkout time. I thought it was 11:00 and believed I was only 15 minutes late, but it was actually 10:30am, so I was 45 minutes over. It was Sunday morning, and I didn’t get the impression the hotel was especially crowded. That felt like a really unprofessional way to handle it. In 25 years of travelling, I’ve never had that happen before.

The service at Hotel Enzo Porto Recanati was quite good, though nice rather than excellent. Its location is near the center, and you can get around the city in just a few minutes.

From the balcony you can watch the town go by. It’s a great little hotel, handy for getting around this small town, and the service is friendly and welcoming. I’ll be back.
