Le Stanze sul Mare

The bedroom and bathroom were clean and perfectly fine, but the air conditioning made the stay impossible in the middle of Elba's hot summer. You don't get a remote control. The property manager operates it from outside the room, sets it to a warm temperature, then turns it off at around 2am until about 6am. That is ridiculous and very unprofessional. The place has air conditioning in name only.

We couldn’t sleep because the supposedly quiet street had traffic from motorcycles and cars, and construction right next door. The AC was off all night, too. The place is basically a room in the owner’s apartment, up three floors with no elevator. We ended up booking another hotel for the two nights. Then the owner told Booking that I hadn’t shown up the day before. I’ve traveled to many countries and never had anything like this happen. Don’t stay here.

Silvia was really kind and helped us with whatever we needed. The place was comfortable and clean, and we had a great stay.

The owner said I could leave the cash in the apartment and that she’d send the invoice on WhatsApp. I’m still waiting for it. I’d booked through Sunday, but after a death in the family I told her at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6th, that I needed to leave at 6:00 a.m. the next morning. We’d arrived at “Le stanze sul mare” around 11:00 a.m. that Friday. I left this low rating because she could at least have considered a discount for the unused second night, even though I wasn’t expecting to get out of paying the full amount. A death in the family is impossible to predict, and I think it calls for some humanity instead of a purely financial response. The total was €290.
