La Sorgente del Sole

The room was incredibly noisy. We could hear coughing, sounds from a small room, and the television, with no soundproofing at all. Our first night was completely disrupted. Booking this place was the biggest mistake I’ve made in Italy. The reservation screen showed the word “advertisement”; if it hadn’t been advertised at the top of the main page, we might not have ended up here. If you book it, be prepared to give up on sleeping comfortably. There’s no reception, it feels like staying at an inn, and the fee is hefty. It’s about a 30-minute walk to Positano’s main street, but the route is also dangerous, not just long. The cliffside road has no pedestrian walkway, and vehicles make it feel threatening. At night the street lights go out, making it even more dangerous. There’s no shuttle from this hotel, and we envied guests from a nearby hotel who had a van ride to the main street. The price is far too high for the service and location. There are plenty of better options in downtown Positano, so I don’t understand why this hotel comes up when searching for Positano.

We booked the Green one-bedroom apartment, which had a sofa bed in the living room. We arrived late, around 10pm, and had paid for the dinner option. Nikola, Angela, and Fransisco made us a really nice meal using produce they’d grown on their rooftop. They were all very nice, and we were already looking forward to coming back. Love from us.

The place is quite far from town, though shuttle services can be arranged. The hostess was friendly, the room was great, and the shower was amazing. The complimentary snack bar was a real plus. We booked for the jacuzzi and its amazing view, then found out it only operates in peak season. That was the one disappointment.

It’s a quiet, peaceful house about a 15-20 minute walk from Postiano, a nice escape from the town’s bustle. The terrace has a stunning seaside view, breakfast was delicious, and the room was clean and spacious. The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The WiFi was a bit slow, and the host didn’t speak much English, but translation software made communication manageable. I’d highly recommend this place for a relaxing, scenic getaway in Postiano.
