Villa Tesoro Positano

The view is absolutely beautiful, but the villa feels like a worn-out version of the photos. There hasn’t been a pool for at least six months, and we only heard about it two weeks before arrival, even though we’d booked months earlier. The cleaner came in every day and spent a little time doing her makeup in the very small bathroom before cleaning. After checkout, my mother sent the host photos of stains on every bed just to make him aware. He immediately insulted us and complained about the mess, even though we hadn’t eaten there since his staff had cleaned. He also said we hadn’t checked out properly, despite my mother asking about the procedure and us following it. The next day he tried to claim we’d broken a sliding bathroom door, which is completely false. This place may once have been lovely, but that was a long time ago. The host was vile, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We booked three months ahead for a trip with friends, and the day before check-in we were told the city hadn’t allowed the pool to be set up that year, so it had been replaced with two hot tubs. We chose this Airbnb only because it had a pool. I asked for a full refund because the listing was misleading, but the host never replied. I had to contact Airbnb support to get our money back. This place is a catfish. Don’t stay here.

I happened to be in Praiano a week and a half before my arrival, so I went to see Villa Tesoro after reading some of these reviews. From the outside, everything people have written still seemed accurate. I’m shocked VRBO and AirBnB are allowing this fake listing to stay up. I’m trying to get a full refund through VRBO. If they give me trouble, I’ll ask Amex to dispute the charge. Now I’m scrambling to find another villa.

The pool doesn’t even exist, so this listing is a complete catfish and the advertising is false. I’d give zero stars if I could. Don’t book.
