Park Hotel Centro Congressi

The staff were attentive and welcoming, and both dinner and breakfast were great. The hotel seems mostly geared toward conferences, with nothing nearby. My room was really warm at night, so I woke several times. I had to open the window for cooler air and put up with the traffic noise.

Breakfast was mostly sweets and pies, with very few savory choices. The rooms were clean, though quite dated, and the bed was uncomfortably hard. The front desk lady was friendly, but I didn’t find much friendliness from the other staff. The hotel seems stuck in the 19th century. We paid full price for an air-conditioned room, but the air conditioning was switched on as late as possible to save money. When it finally came on, it was set very low, so we ended up opening the window onto the freeway to get some air. Luckily, I had good earplugs.

The room was unbearably hot, and the hotel’s air conditioning wasn’t available when I asked. The receptionist said they’d switched it all off because it was cold outside, though it certainly wasn’t cold. We couldn’t leave the window open because of the noise from the busy road. I asked for another room and was moved to one at the back. We left the window open overnight, and my poor husband was bitten alive. He killed eight mosquitoes during the night, and hardly slept. Breakfast was just okay. The hotel is soulless and very dated, and I doubt it’s been refurbished since it was built. There were no nearby facilities, and we needed a car to get to town. Our basic room had no kettle, tea, or coffee. This was the most expensive place we booked on our road trip through southern Italy, and by far the worst. I booked at the last minute and should have checked the reviews. For a four-star hotel, it doesn’t come close. Definitely give it a miss. Crazy expensive too!

The food was good, and our room was clean and comfortable. Reception and wait staff were great, accommodating, and helpful.
