Yvonne and Fabrio are such lovely hosts, and the villa is a real find in Scicily. It was the cleanest and most beautifully decorated place I’ve stayed. Breakfast was delicious, and they were happy to cater to what we needed. They even got a particular football match onto the TV in our room, which made my husband very happy! I’d return in a heartbeat. 🥰

Farfalla Blu is a lovely, relaxed B&B in the quiet Sicilian countryside, with cosy rooms and a beautiful guest sitting room. Yvonne and Fabri, a Hiberno-Italian couple, make you feel incredibly welcome and take real care with the details. It feels like a home from home, with modern facilities and personal touches. There’s a gorgeous garden, a pool, private verandahs, WiFi, electric car charging points, and a great breakfast on the terrace. Pozzallo is a short hop away, and the beach and two good restaurants are a 10 minute walk. It makes a handy base for the southern Sicilian coast, from Marzameni to Punta Secca, and the Baroque towns of neaby Ispica, Scicli, Ragusa and Noto. Montalbano fans are in a perfect spot. Yvonne and Fabri speak fluent English and Italian and can offer advice and practical help in both languages. They also make an effort to reduce the B&B’s carbon footprint and protect natural resources.

The breakfast was a real pleasure, served each morning on the sunny terrace with fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries from the local bakery, sweet fresh ricotta, and great coffee. I also loved the welcome basket Yvonne had prepared, full of local artisan goods and their own organic olive oil. There are plenty of places to sit and read or take in the gardens, olive fields, and sea views. The garden has fruit and olive trees, and the pool area has lots of sun loungers. La Farfalla Blu feels like a little paradise. Yvonne and Fabrizio gave us a warm, genuine welcome that lasted throughout our stay. The newly restored villa has everything you could want, with elegant decor and personal touches. Antique Italian fabrics and linens bring romance and style to the bedrooms, alongside modern amenities. Small details are everywhere, from Fabrizio’s beautiful wooden veranda to the artwork and furniture Yvonne designed. You can feel the love they put into this home. The beach is a 10 minute walk away, with plenty of beach bars. Yvonne and Fabrizio know the area and nearby attractions well, including Origia, Noto and Modica, all beautiful and easy to reach. They recommended great restaurants and even made reservations for us. I felt cared for and at home with Yvonne and Fabri. Their new life here seems to bring them joy, and we left feeling like we were saying goodbye to new friends. We plan to come back and explore more of beautiful Sicilia.

The place has a quiet, countryside feel, with rolling hills, stone walls, wide skies, and a view of the sea. The beach is only a 15 minute walk away. It’s peaceful, with birds and roosters for company, and you might even see sheep passing by. Pozzallo and Ispica, along with other places worth seeing, are still close by. Yvonne and Fabrizio have put months into the renovation and into thinking through what guests might need. The result feels personal: traditional Sicilian tiles instead of the usual faux grey wood, and family heirlooms from Fabrizio that Yvonne thoughtfully updated instead of flat-pack furniture. The house has its own character and reflects the two of them. They’re warm, charming hosts, and the atmosphere they create is a big part of what makes a boutique B&B special. If you’d like a personal stay with a chance to chat with the hosts, give Farfalla Blu a try. I expect I’ll return. I stayed with them last weekend and felt thoroughly pampered. The antique Sicilian hand-embroidered bed linens were beautifully laundered and ironed, and the towels were fluffy, which is no small thing in Sicily where there are no dryers. The carefully chosen Sicilian soaps had a lovely orange blossom scent. The pool was an oasis in the summer heat, with charming dragon flies skimming over the blue water. Slow travel at its finest.
