Agriturismo Al Palaz

We had to cut our trip short for personal reasons, but we’re already hoping to return. The owners were so friendly and helpful, and even gave us a free upgrade to an apartment. Both the apartment and rooms are spacious and very clean. Breakfast had plenty of choice, fresh products, and homemade cakes. We also had a delicious dinner at the neighboring agriturismo. Parking was easy, and the central location made a good base for biking or hiking in the mountains and visiting Lake Como.

We booked three nights and left after two, having barely slept. The apartment on the second floor had an open connection through the attic to other rooms, so we could literally hear a neighbor using the toilet, then woke to their hairdryer. The sofa bed was awful, with the head end about 15 cm lower than the foot end. It shouldn't be sold as a bed. There were two regular beds as well. We complained about the noise, but because we booked through booking.com, they said nothing could be done, no other room or cancellation. We still had to pay the full price for three nights, €420, plus €36 for breakfast for two adults and two kids aged 2 and 4. The price and quality don't match. We'd read all the positive reviews and had such high hopes, but we can't understand them at all. This was an extension of our Tuscany holiday, and now we need another holiday to recover.

For £73, we got a twin room that was comfortable, in a lovely location, and part of an excellent little hotel. The breakfast was superb. Highly recommended.

Dario & Esther were especially helpful and accommodating. The property was very clean, the setting quaint, and breakfast great.
