Hotel Ristorante Villa Monica

I've been having lunch here for 4 year and have always left pleased. The seafood is well known around here, good quality, and not too expensive. It’s a family-run place, managed competently, and the quality stays consistent.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for more than 23Yrs and it still surprises me every time. The food is fantastic, the place is so clean, and the staff are really friendly. Awesome! This family was in the fresh Fish business long before they opened the restaurant.

We didn’t take photos because my fiancee was against it, so I’ll try to describe the evening. I can’t comment on the hotel since I didn’t stay there, but the restaurant set a very high bar. The service was great, the food amazing, the wine outstanding, and the atmosphere cozy. It’s a lovely date spot if you want to impress someone. It is $$$, though, and you get what you pay for. The dessert trolley comes out at the end, and you can pick a mix of things to be served right away. I’m not big on sweets, but I tried a scorpino (spelling?) and it was one of the best I’ve had. Sweet, sour, and just the right amount of alcohol, with the flavors working well together. A perfect finish to the meal. Most of the second courses that night were fried, which isn’t really my thing, so we chose grilled fish instead. The appetizer was a powerful start, and even the first course was outstanding. There’s no menu, but they explain the dishes. They speak Italian, but are American friendly. That small language barrier is worth it for what comes next. I rated Santa Lucia in Portrose, Slovenia in another review. It had excellent seafood, but if you don’t want to drive three or more hours and still want great seafood, this restaurant is a preferred substitute. I didn’t ask whether the menu changes daily since I was happy with the experience. 5/5, highly recommended. I’ll be back at least once a month!

The food and service are both among the best in the area. There’s a great wine selection, too. Save a little space for the mighty dessert tray, it’s unmissable.
