Locanda Giolica

I had a lovely, peaceful stay in the hills of Prato. The hosts were friendly and left us to ourselves, but were very helpful when needed. I could book a meal downstairs at the home restaurant Giolica, and the food was scrumptious. It’s a good walk to the station, so you’ll need transport to get back.

Veronica was wonderful throughout our stay. When my partner caught a cold and the pharmacies were shut for the holiday, she helped us out. She also kept our bags after checkout and let us change when we got soaked in a downpour. We’ll definitely come back to Veronica and Prato, which we fell in love with. ♥️ The guesthouse is clean, tidy, and pleasant to spend time in. Our room was huge, with a very high, very comfortable bed and lots of storage. The tasteful decor had a good Italian style. The bathroom is outside the room, which I actually liked because it gave us more privacy. It’s quiet and peaceful on a green hillside, with beautiful views of the city and mountains. I don’t agree with reviews saying you can only get here by car. We walked everywhere, and anyone in average shape without major health problems should manage fine. The walk from Prato station takes around 20-25 minutes. Carrying our suitcases was the hard part, though Veronica had asked the day before if we wanted a pickup from the station. Breakfast was sweet cakes, pastries, and croissants. That’s not really our kind of breakfast, but we can’t complain. We were so happy with our stay, and highly recommend it.

I stayed for a couple of days recently and thought it was great value. The room was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for belongings, which can be hard to find. The B&B owner was extremely kind, breakfast was generous and good quality, and there’s parking on the property with a remote for the outside gate. What else could you ask for?
