Ciraccio Apartments

We spent several days here in July, staying in the Art apartment. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, and nicely equipped. The courtyard was tidy too, with shady spots where you could sit and relax. There’s a bus stop right outside, with service to the port. For other routes and grocery shops you have to go farther, first downhill and then back uphill. The supermarket delivers, which is useful. Mr. Gabriele was a welcoming, discreet host who paid attention to the details and left us some helpful groceries to get started. Thank you.

Procida feels laid-back and authentic, without a lot of tourism. The only things that bothered us were the missing sidewalks and drivers who sometimes go too fast, though you get used to it. We stayed in a lovely, well-kept complex of four apartments. The rooms were very clean, and there was a roomy terrace. A kind older woman who lived in the garden even shared some tomatoes she’d grown herself. Ciraccio beach is about a 10-minute walk along a quiet road. There are also supermarkets, bakeries, and a fruit shop within easy walking distance.

Gabriele talked us through what to do and how to get around, and was a really good person to deal with. Procida itself feels steeped in culture and tradition, with friendly people who remain close to their roots, surrounded by the sea. We had a lovely family stay with my wife and our two daughters. The apartment was clean and looked after, and about equally far from the various amenities and beaches. We especially liked CHIAIA and VECCHIO POZZO, the closest beaches. The one thing I’d change is the mattresses and pillows, which could use replacing. Thanks for everything.

Gabriele manages the apartments and emails over the useful information about Procida. He’s always available. People are easy to get to know on the island, too. Paola the guide, Tony the taxi driver, and plenty of others are ready to lend a hand. And lemons are king here. There are three apartments, Il Giardino, La Terrazza, and Arte. They’re spacious, well furnished, and each has a large bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and covered porch. The kitchen has a table and chairs, fridge, microwave, gas burners, coffee maker, sink, sofa, and TV. It opens onto the porch, which has a table for six to eight people and a washing machine. In the bathroom there’s a shower with doors, toilet, bidet, water heater, hairdryer, heater, and a small window. There are plenty of Italian-style electrical outlets. Breakfast basics are provided too, including toast, mini jam, tea, and bottles of mineral water in the fridge. The air conditioning and free WiFi worked well, even though internet coverage was poor. At the entrance, small code safes hold the keys, and you’ll be given the code. The apartments are quite far from Marina Corricella and Terra Murata, but it’s a decent walk, and taxis or the C1 bus stop nearby.
