B&B Villa al Lago

The room was large and clean, though the interior is a bit old. Having lunch in the kitchen felt like staying at your grandparents’ place. The lake wasn’t that special to me, since swimming is barely allowed. It’s an old community that isn’t very focused on tourism.

The views are unbeatable, and the host is so kind and made us feel at home. Everything was clean and comfortable, and it was incredibly affordable too. This has been our favorite stay in Italy so far. We loved the place and the host, would recommend it and come back.

We were cycling from Munich to Venice and had really been looking forward to the B&B and its lake view. Instead, we arrived to find a construction site, and nobody was there to let us in. The rooms were dirty and had spiderwebs, and the windows couldn’t be opened. Such a pity nobody told us beforehand, so we could at least have prepared ourselves for what we’d find.

A few hours before check-in, we got an email saying the host had overbooked and could no longer accommodate us. We were on a cycling trip, and the host knew that because we’d messaged about bike storage. We’d planned our route and daily distance around this stay, so hearing this on arrival day while we were out riding was really disappointing and stressful. I tried calling the number we’d been given but got no answer. In the middle of our 100 km ride, I ended up spending a lot of time on the phone with booking.com trying to sort it out. Avoid this place.
