House with 2 bedrooms in Ragusa with wonderful city view and WiFi 22 km from the beach

The owner was so kind and even gave me a cake. I had a perfect stay in a lovely, spacious room with a balcony and a kitchen, right in the center of Ragusa Superiore.

The homemade breakfast was a real highlight, and the host was helpful, including when we needed directions. Still, we were glad it was only one night. The place is in the historic center of Ragusa, which is badly run down, and getting inside meant climbing two very steep flights of stairs that nobody had warned us about. The cleaning also needs work. The floor clearly hadn’t been vacuumed, and while I understand the windows might not be spotless, the rooms and bathroom should be properly clean before guests arrive. I wouldn’t stay again, but it’s done now.

The place is in bad shape, and we weren’t even given the apartment we’d booked. The kitchen was extremely dated and dirty, with no kettle or clean washing-up utensils, and the oven was filthy. The bathroom was also poor, with hair on the floor and towels that weren’t properly clean. The roof terrace furniture looked ready to be thrown out. Breakfast was just very sweet cakes, and we had to make our own tea and coffee. We didn’t want a confrontation with the tall, slim young landlord. The location is the only reason I’d give it even one star. The narrow streets have rubbish lying around, and the area didn’t feel welcoming as a holiday destination.

Francesco was very friendly and had great suggestions for places to visit. The manager made generous, very good breakfasts, and the property itself was clean and well kept. We had a pleasant stay and would recommend it.
