The listing calls this a 4 star hotel, but it barely feels like 3. We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels across Italy and Europe, and this was the worst we’ve visited. The pool is beautiful and the place looks like it has good amenities at first, but underneath it’s worn and needs a lot of upgrading. There was no WiFi or internet at all, and no hot water during our two-night stay. The engineer and other staff tried to get the water at least warm, then just shrugged. Our suite had a gorgeous jacuzzi, but we couldn’t use it without hot water. The beds were hard as cement. A queen sheet was stretched over two pushed-together twins, making an unstable king. Breakfast was meager, and nobody kept an eye on whether food needed refilling. Some things left uneaten on our first day appeared again on the second, still without ice or another way to keep them cool. Staff wore no name tags and dressed as if they were out on the street, with torn jeans and T-shirts. I can’t see how anyone could rate this above one star unless they aren’t very discerning or don’t look past the surface. How could anyone overlook the lack of hot water and internet? Book somewhere else. Even a Motel 6 has hot water.

We enjoyed much of our two-day stay, especially breakfast on the first morning. But breakfast on our last morning, monday 18th august, was very disappointing. The bread was already toasted, which I don’t like, and the ham had turned grey, so it looked like leftovers. When we raised it, the waitress insisted the food was fresh, but it didn’t look that way to us. We asked for a fresh sandwich and were told there weren’t any. At checkout, the receptionist also insisted it was fresh, then charged us in full for a breakfast we hadn’t eaten, without apologizing. To be fair, the gentleman working sat and sunday was very helpful. The receptionist on duty kept shaking her head instead of trying to sort it out, and was busy preparing our bill. 😡

The attached restaurant is a steakhouse, and I wish there were a cuisine option to suit more tastes. The rooms also made me wonder how this place got a 4 star rating: they felt tired and basic, with a broken cupboard, a broken bathroom light casing, and a loose, very yellow toilet seat. The internet kept dropping, and breakfast was below standard, with cheap cereals and plastic juice cups.

The rooms were very clean, and there’s a lovely steakhouse next door that’s part of the hotel. Everyone was friendly and ready to help with any questions or needs, especially reception and the breakfast staff. They even surprised me for my birthday without me saying anything. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re planning a trip to Ragusa.

We went in the middle of June, and the hotel seemed to be in off-season mode despite the structure itself being nice. There wasn’t a single chair outside, just a few rusty tables by the entrance. The pool had only a few sunbeds and seemed to be used as storage for event furniture. The gym had almost nothing in it, even though the website shows it as fully equipped. The restaurant was open for dinner only, and only with a booking, so it might be closed even at 9pm if there are no customers. There were ants in the room and in the bed. Sky TV is advertised on the website, but when we asked why it didn’t work, the receptionist told us it wasn’t working. The flooring outside the hotel looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in maybe 10 years.
