Feudo Vagliasindi

The wine tasting was one of our highlights in Sicily. Corrado’s enthusiasm for wine-making made it both informative and infectious, and the wine was delicious. The package was generous, with fair-sized sample glasses and a plentiful, tasty aperitif platter. After each explanation we could enjoy the wine and food on the terrace, which suited us perfectly. We loved our stay and wished we’d booked more than one night. The vineyards with Etna on the horizon were stunning, our room was spacious with a comfortable bed, and the pool was a decent size. Breakfast also had a fantastic selection of fresh produce. I can’t rate the experience highly enough.

This is a grand old family home and farm or vineyard, a couple of miles from the rather undistinguished town of Randazzo. The quiet, idyllic setting has spectacular views across Etna, vineyards, countryside, and other mountains. Our room was simple but comfortable. You can have dinner at the lodging, and the wine made on site was excellent and reasonably priced. Two brothers inherited the property and manage the hotel, coming and going from the city as they share the work.

We enjoyed the tour of the authentic wine cellar and the tasting on the upper terrace. The building is beautiful, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, with fresh baked croissants, though the restaurant’s atmosphere was a bit disappointing. Hotel Feudo Vagliasindi is a nice place to take a relaxing break on a trip around Sicily.

The food is tasty, but the menu is so limited that it got repetitive for us after three days. The hotel’s setting is a real highlight, with striking views of Etna in one direction and the Nebrodi mountains in the other. In very hot weather, though, the air conditioning struggles and the rooms become uncomfortable during the day. There’s no elevator, and reaching the rooms means climbing three flights of stairs from the front desk. If stairs are a problem for you, this hotel won’t be a good fit.
