Hotel Astoria Rapallo

Reception were very helpful, and the new rooms were okay. The older rooms are ones to avoid, though I think they’re due for an upgrade soon. It’s meant to be a 4-star place and is trying to become 5-star, but right now it feels more like 2 to 3 stars. There’s no pool, proper bar, or restaurant, and the rooms had no mirrors. Crazy.

We slept well despite the daily traffic noise, which died down at night. It was our first time in Rapallo, and we were lucky to find this place. Everything you might want is just minutes away on foot. The room was cozy and comfortable, with a lovely sea view. Breakfast was surprisingly generous and delicious, even with fresh seafood. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Special thanks to Elina, who made the stay even nicer.

The central location is the only good thing I can say. We had a fully renovated room, but the shower wasn’t usable properly. There was space for one, but no glass doors or slope in the floor, so water spread all over the bathroom and out of the room. You can see it in the picture. Please don’t stay here. There are two beautiful hotels next door, at about the same price, and either would have a normal shower. I also don’t understand the praise for breakfast. The croissants and coffee were great, but the other food wasn’t good, so there was no point in having a buffet. It wasn’t worth what we paid, and feels like a two-star hotel at most.

On my first trip to Rapallo, I found this hotel really lovely. My room was clean and had everything I needed. When I had a problem with an item I’d ordered at a shop, someone from the hotel kindly went there to sort it out for me. The location is prime, and I’ll definitely stay here again.
