Best Western Plus Tigullio Royal Hotel

Getting around was easy from this superb location: trains, metro, buses, the city elevator, and the funicular were all convenient. It was a great temporary stop for unloading and catching a taxi, with a fixed city fare of €25 to the airport. The staff were exceptionally helpful, even with the smallest details. Best Western gives you its familiar standards inside a magnificent old building with a traditional old town Genoa feel, especially on the stairs. The room and bathroom were comfortable. Breakfast was offered, and there were also plenty of charming nearby Italian breakfast spots, including places with spectacular pastries. Four days wasn’t enough for all the sights.

I booked a queen-size bed, but found two single beds pushed together. It was completely uncomfortable for a couple. I complained, but nobody did anything until the last night, when they finally moved us to another room. I wouldn’t have paid that much for this bed setup. No refund, nothing.

The room was so quiet that we couldn’t hear the action outside, even though the place seems to be right in the middle of it. Restaurants and bars are only steps away, there’s a small free beach across the street as well as a paid beach with a cabana, and the marina makes for a relaxing walk. The modern rooms are newly renovated and beautifully decorated, with a great shower and excellent breakfast. We stayed one night and it was perfect. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The location works really well for the beach, town, and getting around the area. Our room was spotless and well maintained, and the reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful. We skipped breakfast at the hotel, but the sky bar appetisers were delicious. Beautiful hotel, and I’d definitely recommend it.
