Palazzo della Marra

We had a spacious room and could use a fridge to store some things. The service was amazing and welcoming, and breakfast was really good by Italian standards. It’s right in the center of Ravello, with an amazing view from the terrace. We had a great stay.

The service was painfully slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t busy, and lunch took a long time to arrive. Worse, my wife and I both found small stones in our salads, enough to nearly crack my teeth. We told the waitress, who said she’d speak with management and get back to us. We ate our secondi, ordered a couple more drinks, and got the bill without anyone from staff or management apologizing or even acknowledging the stones. For a restaurant boasting deep Italian culture and history, the cuisine didn’t feel very authentic either. As an Italian from Canada touring Italy, I was surprised by the service. Poor service, and very upsetting.

I didn’t stay here, just came for dinner, and the meal was a letdown. The portions were tiny, the plates almost cold, and the service dismissive. It was especially disappointing to pay top price after coming from Rome, where I’d had some of the best meals of my life. Not impressed at all.

Skip the tuna tartare. The tuna seemed poorly handled and the dish tasted like catfood. The waitress insisted nothing was wrong, and even after it was sent back to the kitchen, I was still charged for it.
