Albergo Zama

Nothing much to complain about here. It's a quiet, no-frills hotel, with a good location, parking beside the building, and a restaurant. The owner is very kind and helpful, and the price is excellent.

The air conditioning worked, and the location was central. Beyond that, the building felt dirty and neglected: the room was dusty, there were ants, and the bathroom was falling apart. The fixtures barely did their job, so noise and nightlife came right through. Given the building's state, the price seemed reasonable. We travel often, and this level of neglect is really hard to excuse. The online photos may be old.

The people running the place are attentive and consistently friendly, and the location facing the Marina makes it easy to get around on foot. The restaurant is run separately from the hotel, but it's excellent, with very good food in a cozy, atmospheric room. The rooms feel comfortable and unlike the standard ones in impersonal chains. For someone who travels a lot for work, being treated as a guest and feeling at home is a luxury beyond any star rating. Compliments to the owners and management.

The location earns a star: it's handy for the sea and close to amenities. The hospitality gets another. The room itself was tiny and dated, and could use an update. A folding door separates the bathroom, where the toilet is squeezed into a corner and the little shower is almost impossible to get into. A few small improvements could make a difference, and the room felt priced more for one person. Breakfast was simple. One more thing for the managers and staff: masks are mandatory, and lunch or dinner is only allowed outside the restaurant.
