Terme Beach Resort

My family and I loved our stay, and I'm not sure why some reviews are low. The staff were amazing: friendly, polite, and full of useful information. Our room was great, with comfortable beds for all three of us, and the spacious bathroom was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast on the second floor had a good range of food, and the spa was fantastic. We really enjoyed the hot-water pool, and lunch at the bar was good too, with a nicely sized plate that kept us going. The beach was lots of fun. We spent hours looking for shells and enjoyed every minute. There are many older guests who come for the spa, but we were lucky enough to meet some lovely people and hear their life stories. Would I come back? Definitely.

The reception team were genuinely lovely and made us feel cared for. Being right by the beach was nice too, though the water looked dirty, perhaps because of the nearby shipping port. The hotel itself was clean but basic, and there was no restaurant. Breakfast had a decent cold selection, but uncovered food had flies on it. Getting a taxi into Ravenna was a struggle: we waited an hour and paid €25 each way. It’s not especially convenient for the cruise port either. The price was reasonable, though, so it might do if you need to stay in this area. I wouldn’t hurry back.

The staff eventually moved us to a room with a garden view after a lot of discussion, but the room we’d booked was wrong and they first insisted it was fine. The fridge inside was 40°, and when I raised it, the lady just shrugged and said the fridge man would come tomorrow. There was nowhere to put wet things except the bath towel. The rooms are worn, and many face straight onto the parking lot, with cars right outside. The booking description only said that some rooms have a garden view, without making the parking lot situation clear. This is the Marina, in the middle of nowhere. The beach had jellyfish, perhaps because of the cloudy conditions, and people were partying nonstop on amphibians during the holiday season. In August 2023, two sunbeds and an umbrella cost up to €20 a day. The hotel and room quality didn’t match the price, and we found the arrival service very unfriendly. Breakfast was exactly the same every day, with fruit as the only variation, if any was left. If you came down around nine, little had been replenished. The scrambled eggs, rolls and cold cuts were fresh, but the other food seemed like the cheapest, lowest-quality market produce. The armchair set felt like something for one-time tourists. I can’t imagine going back.

Book a room by the sea, that part is still nice. The place overall feels run down, and my room had broken cupboards. It also has a rather hospital-like feel, as if nobody is putting care or love into it and management is just letting the money come in. Not a very personal place. There are good things: the restaurant is superb, though I don’t know how that fits with the rest, and room service was very good. Breakfast was okay, but didn’t feel worth the room price. The nearby terme is a wellness spot for older people, and hotel guests can use it if they’re comfortable with hundreds of oldies. The people and staff were friendly, except for the very rough bouncer at the parking area.
