Terrazza Rooms #scaladeiturchi

Sergio was very friendly and clearly keen to make our stay pleasant. The location is also a real plus, with Scala dei Turchi just a 5-10 minute walk away. From the rooftop terrace, the view is great. We stayed one night at Terrazza Rooms in Realmonte on August 3, 2024, and had mixed impressions. The rooms are tiny and minimally furnished, so they're probably fine if you only need somewhere to sleep, but may disappoint if you want comfort. There's no pool, gym, or other extra facilities. Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace. The ground-floor view is blocked by a fence or privacy screen, and the main road brings noise. Parking can be difficult too. The accommodation's price seems to come mostly from its excellent location. For the rooms and amenities, it felt a bit overpriced. I'd recommend Terrazza Rooms to travelers who mainly want the location and care less about room comfort.

We checked in and were shown to our room, where a loud buzzing and vibration filled the space. It was unbearable, and wasn't just a fan or noisy air conditioner. We tested everything in the room with the people running the property, but the noise wouldn't stop. We told them that if they couldn't give us another room without the noise, the room was uninhabitable. They agreed that we could find somewhere else, and we discussed a refund. I clicked the online Booking.com request to waive the cancellation fee, and they said it hadn't appeared yet but they'd take care of it. After more emails with Booking.com, they still haven't agreed to refund anything. We didn't stay there, and we'd agreed a refund would be okay. Booking.com told us the property hadn't agreed to waive the fees. I think that was totally unfair. As we were leaving, I think one of their workers turned something off upstairs and said the noise had stopped. We asked what it was and whether they could guarantee it would stay off. I suspected it might have been a restaurant refrigerator motor, and didn't think they could leave it off, or that it might start again when the thermostat kicked in. It was around 2-3 pm, really hot, and we'd just driven 3.5 hours from the other side of Sicily. We wanted some peace and quiet, a shower, and a place to rest for a couple of hours before dinner. The room didn't seem like it could offer that.

The terrace and view at breakfast are nice, but breakfast itself is slow. The guy goes through the menu out loud and doesn't provide one, which makes choosing difficult. The location is excellent, though it isn't directly on the beach, it's 400m down the road. There's no parking other than on the street, and no tennis. Avoid the basement rooms. They're noisy, can get a lot of water in them when it rains, and people walking past can see you. The photos online are real and show the nearby area, but they don't reflect the property, which I found totally misleading. I'd suggest Villa Romagna, 1km east. It's friendly and clean, with a pool, parking, and direct beach access without walking along the road, all for half the price. Don't pay or stay here. The guy isn't honest or transparent in his communication.

Good things were the location, the service, and the breakfast terrace. But it wasn't worth the money at all. There was no view from the rooms, little privacy, no private terrace, and noise from above. The information about how close it was to the beach and restaurants was misleading 😙
