Hotel Fattoria degli Usignoli and Residence

We stayed in January 2026, and I think this would be a much better place in summer. In winter it gets dark early, so we returned sooner than we would have in the warmer months, and there wasn't anywhere for the family to sit together except the tiny kitchen. The kitchen chairs were awful, and there was no sofa or gathering space. In summer, the covered patio gives you more room. There were also no outlets near the beds. We had to unplug the lamps to charge our devices. That seems like an easy thing to fix for a better guest experience.

The landscape and room were both good, but breakfast left me with a bad experience with the staff. I wanted to take my fruit and cookie outside, and a woman working there told me I couldn't, quite rudely. Our breakfast time had changed and nobody told us, so we rushed through the meal and I felt like I was in a race. I only stayed one night during my trip in Italy.

It's a nice property, but the service staff seemed uninterested and careless. Whenever I asked for something, the replies felt annoyed and rude. Breakfast was average, and the women in charge spent their time gossiping instead of helping guests or refilling the buffet. The rooms were clean but worn, including the U-shaped mattress. The place is far from everything, and the road to get there feels dangerous at night.

The view was the one thing this place really had going for it. If you want quiet solitude away from the city and have a car, it might suit you. Otherwise, it’s a long way from Florence, and taxis are expensive. We had no vehicle and changed our four-night booking to two nights because there wasn’t much to do without one. The front desk gave us four transportation contacts. The first refused to take us to Florence on two different occasions, the second wouldn’t call back after learning where we were staying, and the third never replied. We didn’t even try the fourth. In the end, the front desk arranged a ride. When we paid 180 US Dollars, we saw that the driver’s card had the same name as the first person who’d refused us. Hmm. The rooms were okay, but nothing special and not like the photos. The pool had algae on its steps and sides, and a vacuum sat in the water both days we were there without running. The second pool looked better, though we never saw anyone using it. The restaurant food was pretty good and breakfast mediocre. Staff at dinner were unfriendly the first night, but at least the waitress greeted us with a smile on the second.
