Residence Thalassa

Pretty mediocre.

Such a lovely place.

The location has a couple of drawbacks. Getting to public transport means walking about 10 minutes along the roadway with no sidewalks, and the streets are poorly maintained, with bags of rubbish piled along the road and trash torn open and scattered around. The view from our window wasn't great either. Inside, though, the hotel is beautiful, and our room was very spacious. Some rooms even have terraces, which is a lovely bonus. The wardrobe was wonderful, and having a washing machine was very convenient. The sofa and kitchen utensils in our room could use updating and a few additions. Tea and coffee were available around the clock, and breakfast had pastries, croissants and cakes. The owner was quick to answer any questions we had and sort things out. I also want to give special thanks to the woman in charge of cleaning. She did a meticulous job, even in the far corners, despite the large rooms and all the sand we tracked in from the beach. Everything was spotless, with no dust or cobwebs. She was always polite, patient and friendly, even with guests who don't speak Italian. There's a beach nearby, which is handy. One small request: please give the lovely plants outside the hotel the water and care they need. They're beautiful, and your country is beautiful too. The terrace offered a beautiful view, and our room was spacious and had all the comforts. Breakfast was delicious, with traditional pastries. The ferry to Sicily is only a 10-15 minute drive away. The staff were incredibly kind and helped us through a difficult time, even letting us book and check in late at night. I highly recommend it.
