Hotel Italia

Fine.

Fine.

The bed was comfortable and looked decent, but that’s about all I can say for the place. For €67, I arrived to find a complete dump: worn, broken furniture with cigarette burn holes, light switches held together with tape, and coat hooks ripped out of the wardrobe. The shower head was mounted directly above the toilet, which makes no sense to me. At €10, I might have found it acceptable. Nearly €70 is unbelievable.

I’m writing this on behalf of my 80-year-old mother. Two months ahead, she phoned to book a room for my uncles, who were coming to visit us. She called again two days before the date to confirm, and a young man confirmed it over the phone. When my uncles arrived to check in, they were told there was no room. The manager said it had already been occupied by a woman for a week, and denied there was a reservation or any of the calls and contact. Apparently, the young man who had confirmed it two days earlier had since been “fired,” in the manager’s exact words. The manager then said he had no rooms and would look for another hotel. Speechless. The North African man at reception was rude and uncooperative, with a haughty manner.
