Hotel Miravalle

This was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. My friends and I came to Ribera for our best friend’s wedding, and since they’re local, this was the only hotel that was convenient for us to book. The older woman at reception was incredibly impolite and unwelcoming. If you didn’t understand her, she shouted, and made us feel like we weren’t wanted there. We stayed four days, and our room was never cleaned. We got no fresh towels or sheets. The bathroom light barely worked, the drains weren’t cleaned, and the bathroom eventually flooded into the hallway. It also seemed they took advantage of the fact we didn’t understand Sicilian. When our Sicilian friend came to help, there was no arguing or haggling with them, but they did plenty of that with us. We checked out this morning and then learned from the bride’s mother, who’s a local Sicilian, that we’d been overcharged. We spent a lot of money and felt uncomfortable and unwanted the whole time. Sicily is beautiful, but this experience stressed us out so much that we miss ENGLAND???
