Hotel Midi

The meals were the one part of the stay I liked, they were quite good. But the pool was a hassle: we had to remove the cleaning robot ourselves, and for the first two days it was full of insects, so we cleaned it ourselves too. I booked directly and, in my opinion, got a discount. Once we arrived, though, there was no minibar in the room. I asked the front desk several times to bring one, and each time they said it would come "the next day," but it never did before we left. At first nobody made clear how to use the air conditioning or explained the safe, though staff did help me with those later.

The staff were so kind and helpful, and the welcome was excellent. I have celiac disease, so I was especially glad to have gluten-free croissants and toast at breakfast. There was plenty else too, with yogurt, fruit, cold cuts, jams, and assorted cakes containing gluten. Hotel Midi is reasonably priced for what it offers, and the rooms were extremely clean, though the bathrooms are dated. The room managers were very friendly as well. One thing to know is that check-in is at another hotel, which Booking.com doesn't mention. I found out only when I called. The location is near beach areas 39-37, with large, well-kept beaches. We paid in full and weren't even offered compensation for all the trouble. Other guests got an air-conditioned room downstairs, while some were given a portable unit or a fan. We, meanwhile, ended up sweating in a room with the window wide open and mosquito bites. We arrived at 11 AM and were asked to pay even though our room wasn't going to be ready until after noon. When we came back from the beach around 1 PM, the south-facing room was already like an oven because the air conditioning didn't work. The door was missing a hinge and had to be lifted to shut, and the safe was broken. They said they'd fix everything, but by that evening things were worse. Other guests on the second floor had the same heat problem. They moved us to another room on the same floor, facing east. Its broken air conditioning left it a few degrees cooler, that's all. The owner said it had broken that day and nothing could be done on Saturday. A nightmare night, and a terrible example of Romagna hospitality. Avoid like the plague.

The location made it easy to get around on foot, with shops, restaurants, and attractions nearby, and the beach just 500 meters away. I enjoyed starting the mornings with a walk by the coast and a swim in the sea. Hotel Riccone also has a lovely traditional feel, while still offering the modern amenities I needed. My room was comfortably furnished, and the whole place felt welcoming. Antonio and his team made me feel at home right from arrival. They were attentive, courteous, and keen to make sure I was comfortable, and were always ready with suggestions for local activities and restaurants. It was a pleasure being around such warm people. Hotel Riccone really is a gem of hospitality in Riccone, and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. I'll definitely return for that atmosphere and service. Thank you, Antonio, for an unforgettable stay.
