La Cappuccina

Very clean, nice hotel with a good breakfast and a lovely swimming pool. The people and service were very kind, and the price felt good for what you get.

The staff were lovely throughout, always smiling, and the owners were great too. The kitchen staff and night doorman were especially good. We enjoyed the quiet, the nice views from some rooms, and the strong air con. Some bathrooms have been nicely renovated, the balconies are lovely, the lift is handy, and the pool is warm and nice. The location is wonderful, close to everything and good restaurants, and it felt very safe. There is an ATM across the road. Coffee was great. The local dinner with music was so much fun, with everyone dancing and the staff dressed up. Dinner was nice on some days. Wine is included with dinner, though it's nothing special. There were quite a few problems as well. One receptionist doesn't speak English but says yes as if she understands, so lots of information got mixed up or lost in translation. The beds were the worst I've slept in: short, with springs pressing on my bones, and I ended up with bruises all over. The pillows were bad too. The charging points are old Italian sockets, so we had to buy converters from the rest of Europe, and there weren't enough of them. The cleaner repeatedly forgot to replace towels and bedding, and left the balcony door open. There is no safe or fridge in the room, so fruit went mouldy. Soap and shampoo/body wash dispensers would be useful. The top bunk felt like it might break, its ladder kept falling off, and there were sharp bolts on it. The ground-floor economy rooms are tiny and terrible. We had a comfort room for two weeks, and it wasn't comfortable at all. The hotel feels more like 1-2 stars. Breakfast was okay, but could use cooked eggs like an omelette, croissants without sugar coating, more fruit, and better bread. Parking nearby is difficult, and drop-off is hard because it's on the street. You have to order dinner at breakfast. It's three courses plus a good salad buffet, but the pasta is good some days and terrible on others. The pork is always too dry and the fish portions are too small. Having just one key per room is hard, though you can leave it at reception. The blue hallway lighting at night is strange, and some of the other guests were strange too.

La Cappuccina is really close to the beach and town centre. Daniele and Cinzia are great hosts, and it always feels just fine to stay here. The rooms are okay, but I'd suggest spending a few extra bucks on a superior room if one is available.

The people and staff were nice, and breakfast was good. The hot water stopped working one day, so they gave us a free bottle of wine.
