Le Vele

Nice place.

We were four people staying for the New Year’s Eve dinner, and it was a letdown. The food was sparse, the pasta was completely undercooked, and the buffet was poor, with people packed together. We waited 20 minutes to sit down, then found no glasses or cutlery at our table. The woman serving wine apologized for how she poured it, saying she “wasn’t a waitress.” The Coca-Cola we ordered only arrived after someone went outside the venue to get it. We’d hoped for a calm, fun dinner before New Year’s, but that didn’t happen.

Dinner on New Year’s Eve was the worst part. The buffet kept running out of food, tables weren’t set, and the whole thing felt badly organized. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and were squeezed around a table that was too small. Even the Coca-Cola had run out, so a waitress had to fetch some from the bar next door. Earlier that day, after we came back from aperitifs to get ready, the electricity went out for around half an hour, and our shower door was missing. My boyfriend, another couple, and I had booked two nights at Hotel Le Vele over New Year’s. Those problems, all on the same day, made the stay stressful and disappointing, especially for the time of year and what we paid. I wouldn’t recommend it, and it didn’t meet the standards I expect from a hotel.

A huge disappointment, all show and no substance. Our room was cramped, old, and cold, and the power went out. The food was meager and cold, and there was no baby den. New Year’s Eve was the worst thing in my life. Never again.
