Villa Volpi nel Chianti

There’s a broad panoramic view over the Arno Valley, and the place is peaceful and surrounded by greenery. It usually stays fairly cool, except on extremely hot days, and the nights are almost cool. The beds are quite comfortable, though I always recommend bringing your own pillow. Being close to Chianti and Florence makes it all the more special.

The owners live upstairs and were exceptionally kind and helpful. We spent a wonderful week here in late September, with fantastic weather, and especially enjoyed relaxing in the garden oasis after days out exploring. The large two-level garden, with its small pool, was ours to use. Our apartment was on the ground floor of an old country house, with sturdy stone walls and high ceilings. It was stylish and practical, very clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, and the cool mountain air at night made for restful sleep. It’s an ideal base for Florence. The bus stop is a 10-minute walk away, and the ride takes 35 minutes to the eastern edge of the city center for €3.50. Since the center is closed to cars, that worked perfectly. Arezzo, San Gimignano, and Siena are also easy day trips, as are scenic drives through Chianti, with spectacular views and excellent affordable food without touristy frills. We loved the mix of culture, food, and downtime. Highly recommended. Thanks so much, we’d love to come back!

We had three wonderful days here, and the hosts were always available. Jacopo and Germana have put so much passion into creating this peaceful, enchanting spot. It was spotless and really well cared for.
