The location is handy, a few minutes from the main street by the sea, with a small but fairly well-stocked supermarket just around the corner. The owner was friendly throughout the booking and preparation. When we raised issues soon after arriving, she was polite but didn’t acknowledge the clear problems. Reception helped by supplying towels and bed linen, which the owner had said were included but weren’t in the apartment when we arrived. We booked through Airbnb, then the host kindly asked us to cancel because they usually rent Saturday to Saturday, while our booking ran Monday to Wednesday the following week. They offered us two full weeks for €1,250, plus utilities. Electricity, water and gas came to €17 for almost nine days, which seemed fair. Final cleaning was €50, and tourist tax was €2 per adult per day, capped at €14 each. We stayed in the Orata apartment, on the ground floor with the entrance on the left. It was well below expectations and the description of being “carefully equipped” and “recently renovated.” Despite the €50 cleaning charge, there was plenty of dust, sand and white hair or fur on the floor when we moved in. The furniture was old and shabby, the mattress was broken, and the toilet seat was broken too. The rooms were very humid, with a partly rotten bathroom door frame and mould in the shower and around the basin. The dedicated WiFi was switched off. The alternative connection was so weak it was barely usable. The private garden was just a tiny courtyard with plastic short grass and dusty plastic chairs. Sound insulation was basically nonexistent: we heard chairs moving upstairs and next door, and neighbours showering at all hours. There’s also a sort of lift for bikes and cars next to the entrance, and it makes a lot of noise. If you use the sofa bed for guests and keep the bedroom for yourselves, your guests will essentially have to enter your bedroom to reach the toilet. It’s a fairly basic, small flat that might be acceptable if these problems don’t bother you and you expect to spend most of your time at the beach. Otherwise, Rimini has other places in a similar price range.
