Barone Beach Hotel

The huge terrace was the one good thing, though it was bigger than the room itself. We waited about 20 minutes to get a key after arriving. The doors felt like cardboard, the room smelled bad, and the bathroom was ridiculously tiny, with ants in it. The food was awful, with a hair in every dish like it was part of the seasoning. I won't even get into the staff.

We knew we'd booked a cheap room, but it was simply cold inside. The big terrace was the only plus, and I imagine it'd be lovely in summer. We couldn't check in because nobody was at reception, no matter how much we rang the bell. After around 20 minutes, a man who seemed to have lived there a long time came over and said reception was closed. Only after we spent quite a while explaining did we get a key, because he called someone. Our booking said check-in was available until 11 pm, and we arrived after 6.

The manager, Eugenio, is easy to talk to and really friendly. The renovated rooms made for a lovely stay, and the balcony is a standout. It feels much better than a 3-star hotel, not like a 2-star at all.

A great price and an excellent spot, just a few steps from the sea. My room had a nice terrace with a table and chairs, plus a clean renovated bathroom with a spacious, comfortable shower. The mattress was new and comfortable, and breakfast offered both sweet and savory choices. There was a bit of confusion when I arrived because of a connection issue and they hadn't seen my reservation, so the room situation wasn't clear. I left my suitcase and went to dinner while it was sorted out.
