Hotel Kariba

For a one-off stay, it was okay, and the price matched what we got. The room had a private bathroom, TV, and hairdryer, while breakfast felt more like what you'd expect at a four-star place. Dinner was hit and miss, with some dishes fine and others inedible, though that comes down to taste. The owners were very strict in how they dealt with guests, and you’ll understand what I mean once you’re there. We got one towel each, changed every four days. I wouldn’t book a two-star hotel in Italy again.

I had a really nice stay, and it’s a shame to see people making unfair comments just because they’re used to very high standards. This hotel isn’t modern in appearance, but its good and bad points give it a charm that fits its era. Two- or three-star hotels were like this back then, so you shouldn’t expect anything special.

The dust in the room was hard to ignore, especially under the beds and on top of the furniture. One person seemed to clean all the rooms, and they would sometimes come in without knocking. I can only hope the bathroom was sanitized, but I have serious doubts. The owners didn’t seem concerned about the hotel’s problems, and they’ve taken over the whole roof, which might have been the only good thing about the place. We had no air conditioning for three days before they moved us to another room. When I first tried to turn it on, it wouldn’t work, and reception immediately told me it was broken in my room. It would have been good to know that from the start. The room we were given had opened up because other guests left early, and I can see why: the air conditioner made a terrible noise and was visibly dirty. I’m definitely not coming back.

In the evenings we’d sit on the big terrace and listen to music, and on Wednesdays the children had a kids’ party. We’re very happy with our stay and would like to spend next summer at the "Hotel Kariba" again. The food was delicious, with three meals in the evening, so you’re full in no time. Our room was clean and had air conditioning and a TV. The hotel was very clean and tidy, the people were friendly, and the staff were especially nice. My family and I were very satisfied. Everything here feels lovely and perfect. 😘
