Riviera Mare Beach Life Hotel

The rooms are on the small side, but had what we needed, including air conditioning, and breakfast the next morning was nice. We were right by the beach, and the parking service was great, with very friendly staff. We asked them to suggest a restaurant and the place they recommended was more than great. We'd like to come back sometime if we can.

The hotel could use some repairs, but we enjoyed it more than we expected. We were given a free upgrade to a sea-view room, and the staff were very friendly, helpful, and polite. Breakfast had so much choice and was amazing. My son wanted scrambled eggs, and the woman serving breakfast kindly made him some. Our room was cleaned every day. The shower was small but really nice and hot. The location was great too, about 15 minutes from the city center, away from the hustle and bustle.

The pictures aren't a very accurate impression. Our room was incredibly dirty, with dust that looked untouched for a long time. The curtains were torn, the air conditioner had strange black marks, soap was smeared around, the fridge was dirty and smelled bad, and the hair dryer barely worked. It upset me that in Barcelona €100 can get you a good hotel with a decent renovation, while in many Italian cities people pay €80 for hotels left over from the 1980s without proper care, because they know tourists will pay anyway.

The room itself was pretty standard, and the bathroom was a little small. But the view from the room and balcony made it worthwhile, such a lovely thing to wake up to. The beach was beautiful, and the front desk staff were very nice. Beautiful hotel!
