The beach, boat and bus stops were close by, and the window had a nice view, though the bedroom was too uncomfortable to enjoy it. Check-in was a mess from the start. We arrived around 3:30-4pm, at the time we'd arranged through Booking, but there was no reception or anyone to hand over the keys. We hadn't been told in advance about self check-in either. After wandering around confused for a while, we found a man from the bar in the same building. He contacted the property and explained how to reach our room. Without him, we wouldn't have been able to check in. The bedroom's air conditioning wouldn't turn on at all. The one in the kitchen worked, but barely cooled the room and shut off by itself every couple of hours. We were in room 2 on the first floor, with the bar kitchen directly underneath the bedroom. It made the room hot and humid, almost like a sauna. At night, opening the windows was the only option, but then hot, smelly air from the kitchen came in and made it nearly impossible to sleep. The synthetic bed linen and uncomfortable bed and pillows didn't help. There were other smaller annoyances too, including no cleaning and an awkward toilet location.

The apartment was right by the port, which made the location convenient. But the first-floor stairs were a real struggle with our suitcases. They were difficult and didn't seem up to standard, with no non-slip treads. The air conditioning wasn't cooling the room properly, not great in the middle of August. Since our arrival time had been agreed, it might have helped if they had switched it on a couple of hours beforehand. A nice bar downstairs stays open late and was noisy for quite a while. Thankfully, we were only there one night.

The location is very central and convenient, and the place is otherwise well furnished with a good bed. The sofa bed, though, is really uncomfortable. WiFi is minimal, and the bar downstairs wasn't especially noisy when we visited a bit off-season. If you're renting for only one night, you can't use the kitchen. The room rate includes breakfast at the bar across the street, but skipping it and eating at local cafes will save you a lot of money.

We felt very welcome, and the staff were incredibly kind to us and our little girl. Mare di Cavo is a lovely, quiet area with the harbor and sea practically next door. It's a great spot for families who also enjoy bars and nightlife. We'll definitely return!
