Astoria Resort

The landscaping was really beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was incredible. I think it belongs in my top five hotel breakfasts, even after staying in plenty of fancier places around the world. There was a great selection. I was there for a weekend with my three children and dog, and the hotel felt like a solid four star stay. The food outside breakfast was a letdown. Lunch by the pool was actually really bad, with an inedible, disgusting poke bowl, cardboard-tasting fries and terrible pizza. Dinner at the restaurant was very average too. We ate there one night only because we were exhausted and didn't fancy the long walk into Riva with the kids. I'd skip the restaurants apart from breakfast.

We booked a room last Wednesday for my husband and son to stay for 10 days, but there’s still no confirmation. They haven’t replied to our emails either. The website showed availability, so now we’re left wondering if the booking will even go through. We’ve never had this happen at a hotel or resort before, where confirmation usually arrives straight away or the same day. It feels very strange. Their phone hours are another issue. Monday to Friday only? That’s not what I’d expect from a four-star hotel. Are they a bank?

The setting is one of the best things about Astoria Natural Feeling Hotel 🏨. There’s lots of space, a pleasant atmosphere, and a nice view outside. It’s also a good spot, about a 10-minute walk from the center, with good restaurants nearby where you can eat well for a reasonable price. The hotel has a bar, laundry, spa, and other services. The price is high compared with similar hotels in Garda, though, and the food is just average. There are no free bottles of water in the room or toothpaste and toothbrushes, and changing used towels costs extra. You can’t turn off the AC or adjust the temperature.

We’ve only just arrived, and they’ve already made this feel like such a special way to celebrate. The room is spacious and clean, the staff are kind and welcoming, and the grounds and gardens are beautiful. There’s also an outdoor pool open 24/7 and a spa at a very fair price. They even left us a welcome gift! 😊 It’s been amazing so far. I hope we get to come back for more occasions.
