Villa La Rocca

The balcony was a highlight: spacious, with a lovely view. Staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was decent, better than at some hotels I've stayed in, though the selection was smaller than in many others. My room was listed as a triple on the Magicland website, not a double with an extra bed, but I got a camp bed and fell as soon as I sat on it because its legs hadn't been opened properly. The room was clean, but the furniture was quite old. The refrigerator, with its small freezer, was useful, though old and pretty noisy. Getting to Magicland took 25-30 minutes by car, less convenient than I'd expected. The location works well if you want to visit both Rome and Magicland, since it's roughly halfway between them. I'd call it decent, especially considering I paid 90 euros for two nights, including 4 days at Magicland. I don't understand how it got 4 stars.

I don't know who gives hotels their stars, but this definitely isn't a 4-star place. I'd call it a badly managed, awful dump with inexperienced people running it. We arrived in the evening and were shown a dirty, smelly room without even the basic hotel comforts. Dinner was terrible, and the chef should find another job. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's a shame, because with experienced people and a bit of know-how, the results could surely be much better.

Having read the earlier reviews, I don't agree with them. This hotel is refined and very well looked after, a peaceful oasis. The staff are courteous and extremely helpful. It's an excellent hotel, and I'd recommend it to anyone!
