Mimosa - Borgo la Civitella

Getting to Il Poggiolo took quite an odyssey. We had to make our way from a busy intersection over very rough ground before we could settle into our accommodation for two weeks. Once there, we found the kitchen had very few utensils, so unfortunately homemade spaghetti was out of the question.

It was a lovely place for a few days, and very quiet, with nice views, though we couldn’t see much from our apartment. We only slept there since we spent the days out. The accommodation was okay, but the outdoor tables weren’t set for meals, perhaps because of the season, and their tablecloths were dirty and torn. I’m not sure I’d return; next time I’d pick somewhere a bit more pleasant.

The children had a spacious, well-equipped bedroom upstairs with their own bathroom, and loved having their own space. Downstairs, the adults had the same comfort, along with a living room and kitchen. The apartment is large and comfortable. There’s a pool and plenty of green space that feels peaceful and restorative. Set in a charming medieval village between nature and history, the location works well for both the Tuscan coast and visits to historic towns and art cities. We had a wonderful holiday, thanks in part to the owner’s kindness and helpfulness. A delightful person. Goodbye for now!

Evenings at La Civitella were a treat: a glass of wine, the scenery, and cicadas in the background. The place is clean, rustic, and well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday, and the owners are very friendly. We stayed there last year and loved the peaceful setting among olive groves and vineyards. It’s a great base for exploring Tuscany, and Albarese’s beautiful beach is about a 50-minute drive away. It’s a longer trip, but well worth it. We’d definitely like to return when we can. Thanks so much!
