Club Esse Sunbeach

The beach is close, the resort has tropical nature throughout, and the weather was really good. Room service and daily cleaning were also good, and the food was okay, just okay. But this wasn’t a terrible holiday, and it wasn’t a perfect one either. First, this is not a four-star hotel. Maybe two stars. The place seems past its best, with old furniture, slightly outdated bathrooms, and a bar and restaurant that look like they’re from 2000. The rooms, restaurant, and even reception need major renovation. English was a serious problem. Staff couldn’t manage even very simple words, which is unacceptable for a holiday hotel or resort. The animators ran away from us, which was really weird. Maybe you’re wondering why we didn’t raise these problems, but it was impossible when they didn’t know English :)

We spent a week here. The resort itself was amazing, but I don’t think it was worth the money. The beach was amazing and the pools were great, though there weren’t enough seats for everyone. The rooms were nice, but the jacuzzi didn’t work, the bathroom door had no lock, and the shower had clear glass so everyone could see you. At the restaurant, only two staff members spoke English, and the others didn’t. Some things need repairing, especially the park where the kids play, where we saw two big snakes!

Once we had checked in, we were asked to pay extra for several things: a cot that had already been booked for the room, each beach towel and every towel change, and an additional tax on arrival. We had half-board wristbands showing what food and drink we were entitled to, but when we asked the pool bar for drinking water, we had to wait longer than other customers and got only a half-filled plastic cup. The bar staff made us feel like a nuisance each time, even when the bar was empty. Halfway through our stay, the hotel director announced that everyone using the outdoor pools had to wear swimming hats. Everyone without one, including young children, was ordered out for “hygiene reasons,” even though the pools were outdoors and already had debris such as insects and leaves floating in them. The hotel shop sold swimming hats at an inflated price. If I’d known about this rule before booking our family holiday, I wouldn’t have chosen this hotel.

The grounds are beautiful and the food is good, but the service and cleaning are awful. Some rooms have no windows, and the hotel manager was nervous and impolite. If you need something, expect to ask more than once. They also charge extra for every person, even newborns, for every night. This is not a four-star hotel. Very disappointed.
