Roccamare Resort - Hotel Casa di Ponente

The sea is beautiful, and we had a very pleasant stay, though you'll want a car or bike since there isn't much nearby. The resort has Casa di Ponente, Casa di Levante, and rental houses. Casa di Ponente is the most luxurious, right by the beach with views of the lagoon pool. Casa di Levante sits across the main road, a little farther from the sea, with its own pool and easy access to parking and the sports fields. The rental houses are well equipped. Some uphill units, 441-445, 421-424, and 327-328, mean steep stairs or a road to get there, although a shuttle runs until 11 PM.

I was really disappointed. The road to the hotel is in terrible shape and needs renovating. The apartment bathroom had lots of mold on the black and gold wallpaper, and you could smell it right away. Worst of all, it came off onto your feet in the shower. Breakfast wasn't good either. Something was badly wrong with the scrambled eggs. I also didn't like that the beach couldn't be accessed before 8 am.

The breakfast was so bad we canceled it after the first morning and bought our own food. Inside the villa, the mattresses looked like they hadn't been replaced in about 20 years, and the duvet was the cheapest polyester. For €5,000 for two weeks in their largest six-person villa, which felt like an old furnished hut, only two beach sunbeds are free. Each extra one costs €40 a day. Staff were rude and made us feel unwelcome. If you put up your own umbrella, the lifeguard tries to send you away from the so-called private beach to the public area. Hotel guests seem to have fewer rights than people off the street. Toys and sun mattresses aren't allowed in their pool either, and the lifeguards act like personal rule enforcers from hell. There was no holiday feeling at the beach or pool. We met lots of other families who complained at reception every day. Not worth the time or money.

The food was really good, proper tasty Italian dishes like fish, pasta, and pizza, and there are restaurants right in the camping. The coast by the beach is beautiful, too. This was the best camping experience I've ever had! The staff are lovely. If Salvataggio reads this, they'll know what I mean 😝. It's great for families, even with a baby, and I recommend it to everyone. There are two pools, as far as I know 😛.
